The Dermapower™ Home Microdermabrasion System was exhaustively used in clinical trials at the University of California, San Francisco.
 
The results were presented at the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery:

• A study of combined effects of microdermabrasion and over-the-counter formulated skin care products efficacy in affecting skin changes associated in aging and acne was presented at the Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, September 11-13, 2003 in Orlando, FL.
• In the study, conducted at the University of California, San Francisco, the investigators evaluated the changes in skin texture, coloration, tone, general appearance and the acne severity. The study was divided into two groups of patients, those with aging changes and those with acne.
• Both groups showed a statistically significant improvement in these skin features when measured over the 6 month duration of the study period. The improvement observed in both groups of patients showed a slight trend toward baseline when the frequency of microdermabrasion was significantly reduced. Both groups showed continued improvement to a plateau at about three months of treatment.
